Pakistan Approves the Establishment of the New Export-Import Bank

The National Assembly of Pakistan has approved the bill that Momentus (formerly IFCL) drafted to establish the nation’s Export-Import Bank, as part of our work to operationalize the bank.

Momentus (formerly IFCL) is delighted that the National Assembly of Pakistan has approved the bill to establish the nation’s Export-Import Bank.

Our team was contracted by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) to support Pakistan’s Ministry of Finance and the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) to set up and operationalize a national Export-Import Bank (Eximbank). We drafted the bill and supported government consultations to garner support for the bill to pass.

The approval is a milestone in building a major policy tool to facilitate sustainable growth. As Momentus’ former Director of Projects, Jennifer Loewen, states, “Our journey with the key government stakeholders of this project, particularly Irfan Bukhari, was an intense and fruitful experience. We are proud of this achievement and are excited to see Pakistan now able to offer internationally competitive export promotion instruments in support of growing and diversifying the export industry.”
